Occupied is used in the LEM programming when the user wants to enter the room and have the lights come on either with the switch or with an occupancy sensor( this requires a LEM and the occ sensors have to be programmed for auto on/auto off). They will remain on until either the switch is turned off or the occ sensor times out.
On & Occupied is used when the fixtures need to come on at a prescribed time regardess if anyone is in the room or not. If the room has an occ sensor, once it sees motion, it will time out.
An 'Occupied' action just changes a room from unoccupied to occupied mode
without changing the state of the lights in the room. if the lights are off,
they will remain off. If someone had turned on the lights before the Occupied
action, the lights will stay on, but the 2 hour timeout that was started when
the lights were turned on will be cancelled. An 'On and Occupied' action does
everything that an 'Occupied' action does, but also automatically turns the
room lights on to the level at which they were set when they were last turned off.
If you use 'Occupied' actions in your schedules and the occupants manually turn
on the lights when they arrive, then holiday schedules aren't needed because the
lights never turn on automatically. If it's New Year's day and no one's in the
office, the lights will remain off. This is part of the reason why Adaptive
schedules work as manual on / auto off, so we don't have to worry about figuring
out holidays. We have the 'On and Occupied' action and holiday programming
functions available because some customers want their system to function as
auto on / auto off even if it's a bit more cumbersome and saves less energy.
An "Unoocupied" event will turn the configuration group off at a specific time.
