Occupancy Sensors: How Do Occupancy Sensors Detect Me?

All of our sensors utilize Passive Infrared (PIR) technology to detect changes in the infrared energy given off by occupants as they move within the field of view. Sensors with "PDT" in the model name include Microphonics technology, making them a Passive Dual Technology (PDT) sensor, utilizing a microphone to hear sounds indicating occupancy in rooms with partitions or obstructions.  PDT sensors will not turn lights on with the microphone, but the microphone will keep the lights on under certain conditions.  See article about "Automatic Gain Control" for additional information.
